Role Description:
Surrey County Council is committed to engaging with its communities and partners locally to ensure that services respond to the needs of Surrey citizens. A new Community Partnerships Team has been established to take forward this crucial work.

The Community Partnerships team is led by the Community Partnership Manager. The team has a remit to strengthen the role of county councillors locally and support the Corporate Leadership Team in linking to the Chief Executives and senior leaders in Districts and Boroughs and bodies such as the police, health trust and voluntary sector. The Local Support Assistant posts will be key support positions in the new team ensuring that the team functions effectively.

As part of a small team of administrative staff, you will support each other during periods of high workload and absence, creating a team approach. You will answer or refer enquiries from councillors, residents and organisations seeking funding and provide accurate and timely responses, as well as undertaking a variety of administration activities.

This is an exciting job requiring excellent organisational and communication skills and office experience, a good head for numbers, and an ability to work flexibly and proactively and inspire confidence and team spirit. It is also essential that you have knowledge and experience of financial systems, ordering, recording and processing for payment.

In addition to proven customer care and organisational skills, you will need proven IT skills and knowledge of Lotus Notes, Word and Excel, and an ability to work flexibly, proactively and to travel around the County. In return, Surrey offers a range of benefits, a good pension scheme, and training/development opportunities.

The role is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and has a requirement for occasional evening work (to support public meetings).

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Sandra Brown on 01483 517532.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment
