The London Borough of Waltham Forest is undergoing a major transformation program and Information and Communication Technologies lies at the very heart of this. To support this transformation the ICT Group is about to start a fundamental change to the provision of ICT, which will move the council onto a state of the art suite of infrastructure and systems.
This work includes collocation of data centres, renewal of servers and storage, deployment of virtualisation in the data centre, applications and desktop and a migration from Novell & Groupwise to a Microsoft based technology platform. In the next 18 months we will also be renewing our network, deploying unified communications, integrating our voice and data networks and changing a number of Business Critical Systems.
We are looking for two posts which will be central to the success of these changes, a Service Delivery Manager and a Business Transformation Manager.
Business Transformation Manager
Reporting to the Head of ICT you will be a member of the senior management team, lead a team of 5 and will act as a key interface between the ICT Group and the Business. Supporting the Head of ICT in the Council’s Transformation program, your responsibilities will include Business Engagement, Program Management and the management of 3rd party vendors and contracts.
You will be a flexible and pragmatic individual able to engage with and explain technical principles to a broad cross section of Council Staff, from the Chief Exec down. You should have extensive project and program management experience and will have managed the ICT contribution to major business change programs, working with both internal and 3rd party resources. You should understand and have applied the principles of strategic vendor management and be able to use these principles to get the very best from the Councils ICT suppliers.
You should have a broad understanding of the following technologies:
o Infrastructure – Data Centres, Servers and
Storage (HP & EMC SAN)
o Virtualisation Technologies – VMARE, Citrix &
Hyper V
o Microsoft Technology – Active Directory,
Exchange, OCS etc.
o Network / Telephony / Security
o ITIL V3 / GCSX 4.1 / Prince 2
