This is an excellent opportunity to drive financial stability through innovation at a small Council with big expectations. At East Northamptonshire District Council, we pride ourselves on a friendly, open culture and a positive outlook. Here, you’ll join a high performing team that’s dedicated to delivering customer service excellence, continuously improving services and value for money. The current financial climate might be challenging, but the challenges you’ll tackle here are the kind to be relished.
A highly experienced senior financial leader with a proven ability to drive organisational change, you’ll take on the statutory role of Chief Financial Officer. As a key member of the Corporate Management Team, you’ll make a valued contribution to the Council’s overall strategic direction. Naturally, you’ll enjoy personal accountability for developing and delivering our Financial, Procurement and Risk Management strategies, processes and procedures – ensuring service excellence is achieved in every area.
Developing an effective financial management framework, you’ll ensure good financial standing and appropriate governance. Administering our financial affairs, your remit will cover everything from internal audit and accounts to budgeting and treasury management. Accountable for external funding, you’ll be charged with maximising our income. Overseeing the process of setting Council Tax, you’ll see to it that the base calculation is robust. We’ll also expect you to provide expert financial advice and information to Councillors and officers.
An influential, inspirational leader, you demonstrate excellent communication and relationship building skills, plus a proven ability to deliver results under pressure. You’re a champion for the customer, with a track record of managing responsive financial services to achieve measurable outcomes against differing needs. A fully qualified Member of CCAB, you have substantial experience of working closely and successfully with elected Members and multiple agency partners. It’s vital that your knowledge spans current social policy, local government finance and corporate governance arrangements for local authorities.
Closing date: 22 February 2012 at 9.00am.
