The Role
Our Social Work Units have revolutionised the way we deliver Children’s Social Care in Hackney. As a Consultant Social Worker you will lead the work of your unit and be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering focused interventions to safeguard children.

We’ve put the infrastructure and resources in place to ensure that our social workers spend more time working directly with families. Our social workers are based in small networks of professionals (social work units). Each unit is lead by a consultant social worker and supported by a social worker, a children’s practitioner, a clinician and a unit co-ordinator.

Responsibilities

The unit shares a real sense of ownership for each case and a dedicated clinician helps to ensure that evidence-based methodologies (systemic family therapy and social learning theory) are used to affect positive change with families.

To enable our Social Workers to practice at the highest level we offer:-

• A dedicated administrative resource within each unit so practitioners can focus on direct work with families – not paperwork.
• The support, resources and culture which give you the autonomy to make key decisions.
• A bespoke learning and development programme delivered by leading academic institutions.
• Clearly defined methodologies to ensure the best for Hackney’s families.
