This is an exciting opportunity to join the Admissions & Property Team to make an immediate contribution in supporting the Every Child Matters agenda. You will make a contribution to implementing the major capital programmes that will benefit the children, young people and vulnerable adults of our Borough.

As an experienced client construction project manager you will implement capital building projects for schools, youth centres, early years and social care establishments, with responsibility from inception through design to implementation. Key projects include construction of new schools and teaching spaces to meet demand for pupil places, Children’s Centres, and the DCSF strategic programmes including the Primary Capital Programme, and planning for Building Schools for the Future.

You will be working with stakeholders in the Social Care & Learning Department to create project briefs; manage building projects from start to finish and instruct designers, contractors and other building professionals. You will ensure that the scope and objectives of the projects are clearly understood and then implement the construction work to meet these objectives within budget and on programme. You will also take responsibility for accessing external funds and ensuring compliance with Government requirements.

This position is offered on an initial 2 year basis and we require a professional approach with the ability to work to tight timescales. We offer flexible working wherever possible; a generous pension scheme; a wide range of employee benefits and the opportunity to buy, sell or bank annual leave.

Secondment opportunities will be considered.

For an informal discussion please contact Chris Taylor, Admissions & Property Manager on telephone 01344 354062.

Interview date: 6th February 2009
